Paperback (edit)
review Timid Faith Lewis has spent the last few years harboring a crush for her boss Ryan McKay. Now Ryan must marry in order to maintain control over the company and his bride has just walked out on him.

Ryan had no intention of marrying now he has to come up with a bride and baby within a year. Now that his latest attempt has fled as if the hounds of hell was chasing her down, he is desperate to find a new bride before midnight. Looking at his secretary Faith, he begins to form a new idea, although she is plain and wears clothes that fit horribly, her loyalty is unquestionable. Proposing a marriage where a child will be concieved, Ryan offers her something that no one else has ever done, a chance to have someone love her unconditionally, for if she has a baby, the baby will be hers and he will walk away.

I thought this was a wonderful read, of course I am a real sucker when it comes to Ugly Duckling stories. Faith is wonderful, she has some history that allows her to believe she is unworthy of love from another. Ryan harbors his own hangups when it comes to relationships that leave him believing it is better to be alone.

Nothing Personal Jaci Burton 9781605041070 Books Reviews

Love how Ryan is a brooding indifferent, emotionally unavailable, or so he would have you believe. But with faith he can't maintain his facade, and he begins to do acts of kindness for her. I loved it, loved how she is a 26 year old Virgin. It's not something people always respect I do and I loved this story even more because of it!
Love love love, I like how you get to read/hear from both the main characters. You really get to know Faith and Ryan and what their going through and how their feeling about things. The pace of the book is great, you keep on reading and reading wanting to know what happens next. I like the Cinderella kind of stories and this is it. At first you think Ryan is a rich snob and only thinks of him self, but then you really get to know him and what he's been through in life and understand him and how he reacts to things. Faith is kind of the same at first you think she's this crazy dumb woman who just jumped into something and then you learn about her and her past. Then your rooting for the both of them to live happily ever after.
Faith is in love with her boss and he needs a wife to save his company and the fake one just bailed. Only hours away from loosen his company Ryan McKay leans that is fake bride has bailed so on to plan B. Ryan finally looks at Faith and see a sweet woman that could play the part for his fake wife. Marriage to her boss who she has to sleep, live, and have sex with, can she do this when she has never done any of the things the contract says she has to do for one year ? Can they go thru this without one or both of them getting hurt ?
This review is hrs late due to passing out from exhaustion trying to finish this book. Hey authors I still have to sleep & work too, ;-}! I hated the voices in their heads telling them stupid stuff. But I also loved that their minds & hearts overruled those nasty voices. Then there was the butler Leland, God bless that man for finally waking up & putting his foot down with both main characters, KUDOS! With that said, do I believe in the older generation pushing the younger to do things they don't really want to, no. But it seems in my romance novels that everything is for the best. Where love does indeed prevail.

Thank-You
Super sexy corporate magnate needs a wife. Not just any wife. But a wife who can bear a child within a year or else he is out as head of McKay Corporation an extensive family owned upscale hotelier. So when your snooty intended bride to be chucks you just before the nuptuals, what's a guy to do?... Why turn to your bookish, mousey, virginal executive assistant who has had a crush on you for years to fill in.

Nothing personal is a quick read and the characters are all likeable (or hateable) depending on who the character is. Faith is shocked when asked to be Mrs. Ryan McKay for the next year but both get more than they bargained for when what turns out to be an iffy proposition at best begins to evolve in to the real thing and both main characters have to fight lifetimes of loveless families to make their new union work. There is a quaintness to the book that harkens back to old school romance novels but in this setting it works. Just put a cravat on ryan and an empire waist gown on Faith and voila. But what is even sweeter is that in spite of the book having these old fashioned touches it works in its modern day setting. The book progresses quickly and thankfully leaves out alot of that superfluous "stuff" that could have bogged it down. The heroine is a virgin but is not sooo shy and timid that given it's modern day setting it is unbelieveable. There is a pretty harmless bad guy who does little more than sulk and skulk through a few parts of the book but in the end does not become the godzilla bad guy that takes over the story. I read the story in about 3 hours and for a nice fall day it was a quick, predictable but still enjoyable read.
This story reminds me of the romance books I read when I was younger. I believe JB wrote this book quite some time ago and just released it on this year. I found a hardback copy in a used bookstore a few years ago. I really liked the old school feels.

This story has been told a million times before. Gorgeous, wealthy man needs his assistant to marry him due to a clause in a will holding his company hostage unless he gets married and has a baby. Of course, the assistant, Faith, has been in love with the wealthy man, Ryan, for years. This story throws in a baby clause to avoid the 'marriage of convenience' trope. What really makes this story better than a lot of the rest is the main characters. Both Faith and Ryan are very sweet characters. Throw in a frumpy girl makeover and I am hooked.
