Eyrie is a nation lead by families that are descended from the Fae. Although time has diluted the magic this blood possessed at one time, across the land there are people born with very strong gifts. One such, is Aron of Brailing, a fourteen year old farm boy. Taken against his will from his family by the Stone guild to become an apprentice to a high master assassin, Aron soon learns that alli is not how it seems.

We learn much about Eyrie as Aron does. Sheltered from the real world in many ways because of his life on his family’s distant farm, he is ignorant of many things. As the story progresses and Aron’s eye are opened to how life really works, we learn along side him. The world created is fascinating. Rich with magic and monsters. There are many things that Aron must overcome, not least of which is himself.

Highly recommended. Can’t wait to start the second in the series and see what happens next!
I went in to reading the book thinking I would not like it as much as the first book but soon I was engrossed in it. it was as good if not better then the first book.
Good read
This book really defined atom for who he really was and set the mood inside of you that he was nothing more than a normal farm boy , but he lived up to his family name of " Brailing" .
My son reads at a high level for his age, and to find books that are appropriate and challenge him is difficult. This has a higher difficulty rating on the lexile index, and he loved it. It is a series and I think there or 2 or 3 books total.
I must say that I recently read this book and I was absolutely blown away I first bought it from a Powells a large used book store in Oregon and I was so blown away that when I got back I bought a copy for my girlfriend and then immediately bought the sequel as well the characters are engaging and humorous and the story is perfectly put together though in all honesty I wished it was even longer D I have only a few bad things to say about the book and thats that some of the "bad guys" didn't receive enough explanation at the beginning of the book, the Mockers/Manes/etc I wished I knew more about them because it confused me when I read it. Over all this is one of the best fantasy books I've ever read and I would DEFINITELY recommended it
This first of two books gives the reader all the excitement and adventure he could ask for. The questions that arise from this fast-paced story are all resolved in the second book. I am amazed the author had to dictate the entirety due to an unfortunate handicap, but his mother (co-author) does an exquisite job conveying a truly remarkable adventure. Kudos.
